Modern Country Charm In Kurri Kurri

This delightful family in Kurri Kurri got a fantastic new bathroom!

Both of the bathrooms in the house were a bit dark and dated so the owners decided it was time for a change. This is bathroom number one, with number two under construction at this very moment.

The Brief

The owners wanted a bright fresh bathroom and loved subway tiles. Subway tiles can really bring that touch of the old charm to a bathroom. There was a small separate loo next door and the plan was to keep that design similar to the main bathroom for continuity. There was no need to change the lay out. Everything was already in a logical place that allowed good functionality in  the room.

The Design

The family at Kurri already had a really good idea of what tiles and style they wanted in their bathroom. At the in home consultation with our designer, Sophie, suggested that covering all walls in the small subway tiles might make the bathroom look a bit crowded with their choice of patterned floor tile. To keep in the style they wanted, a feature wall of subway tiles was decided  with 300 x 600mm white tiles to compliment on the other walls. A clever feature of subways was also added in the shower niche. (From the point of view of maintaining a bathroom, all subway tiles in the shower can be a bit of a pain keeping all of the joints clean!)

The gorgeous floor tiles really made this design pop. The choice of the wood style vanity pick up the hints of tan in the floor. The 3 piece tapware from the ‘bristol’ range helped tie this renovation together with a fantastic result.

The back to wall bath was added and the framed shower was swapped out for a frame less shower. This created stunning clean and modern elements to the design.

It has been a delight working for this family. We are all looking forward to seeing bathroom number two looking as good as this one.
